Do you put on both socks and then your shoes? Do you put on one sock and one shoe and then the other sock and then the other shoe? You know what? It does not matter!
But , how you put on the whole armor of God does. Truth is the first piece. Why?
THE Truth makes you free! John 8:31, “ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
You cannot fight if you bound! Only a free person can fight!
Not just any truth, THE TRUTH. The Word of God is THE TRUTH! The Truth is life! A dead person cannot fight!
The Word of God is spirit and life. John 6:63, “the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
Remember when we started this discussion, we said that Paul was writing to Christians in the letter to the Ephesians. He was telling Christians to “put on the whole armor of God”. Only Christians can wear God’s armor. You say I don’t think that’s fair. Duh! If you are not a Detroit Tiger, you can’t wear their uniform. If you are not a Detroit Red Wing, you can’t wear their uniform. This is true is the sports world. Does anybody say that it is not fair? Why would a non-Christian want to wear God’s armor. So,
Truth #1: I am saved
Romans 10: 9-11
“if with your mouth you confess Jesus as Lord and in your heart believe that God brought Him back to life, you shall be saved. 10For with the heart men believe and obtain righteousness, and with the mouth they make confession and obtain salvation. 11The Scripture says, ‘No one who believes in Him shall have reason to feel ashamed’.”
The next time you are tempted to doubt your salvation or ashamed that you are not “good enough”, reach down to your Belt of Truth and throw Romans 10:9-11 at Satan.
If you have confessed Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that the Father raised Him from the dead (believe that he was crucified for your sins and raised to life), You are saved. PERIOD! Done! Finished!
